Re: Cat food to help Kidneys?
As I stated before, I am in Australia and we do not have a great variety of prescription diets. So my kitty it is pretty much on hill's or hill's!!! My cat is is eating the hill's but is having a little cooked chicken on the side (a very small amount) to ensure that he is eating enough for his weigh...

Re: Problem With Cat Not Using Litterbox
It does provide some funny moments that's for sure! There have been many times where kitty and I have collided trying to get to the toilet! But as usual, kitty goes first, afterall he is boss!

Re: Kitty advice needed
Also..... as for the breathing thing, I spoke to the vet today and she assured me that in his recent two visits to the vet his heart and lungs were clear so it seems I am just being paranoid!

Re: Cat food to help Kidneys?
Rian, my kitty is on hill's k/d and is also allowed to have low protein cooked food. The vet recommended plain cooked chicken or steamed fish or hard boiled eggs or mashed potato with rice. This advice was given to me as I was having trouble getting my little one to eat the k/d canned food. These co...

Re: Cat food to help Kidneys?
Thanks for the advice Traci! As I mentioned in another thread, my cat has only just switched to the k/d diet. The vet recommened hill's k/d however my kitty has never been fond of dense canned food. I knew I would run into trouble getting him to eat this canned food. He loves the biscuits so that is...

Re: Problem With Cat Not Using Litterbox
It was just a suggestion! And obviously it does have a novelty factor but it certainly is a far more hygenic alternative to litter boxes. A little box stinks, especially if it is located indoors and where ever there is smells you can be sure there will be germs as well. Not to mention the mess of a ...

Re: Kitty advice needed
Thanks for the advice Traci. He doesn't have renal failure or anything serious. He is showing slightly elevated levels for kidneys. This is apparently normal for a cat his age and is nothing to worry about, but to prevent the levels rising he is now on the k/d diet or a low protein diet. I am not sw...

Re: Problem With Cat Not Using Litterbox
I am in Australia and a few years ago a lady came up with this great toilet training system. It actually trains your kitty to use the human toilet just like us (except they don't flush). I trained my 7 year year old cat to use it (now 9.5) and he is using the human toilet like a champion (think Mr J...

Re: Cat food to help Kidneys?
My kitty recently showed slightly elevated levels for kidneys so my vet has put him on the Hills k/d diet. So far my boy loves the k/d dry food and he is getting use to the wet food. My vet is also going to get back to me about some recipes I can make at home that are low protein so if they work I w...

Re: ALL POSTS RE: PET FOOD RECALL GO HERE IN THIS THREAD
Thanks Sue and kids! I did a bit of research last night and the Hill's M/D was recalled in Australia but only as a precaution. Apparently none of the other pet foods that were affected by the recall in the US reached Australian shores. Still awfully scary to think that something like this could happ...
