Re: Update on Alley and Midnight - Day 71

Hello, I have to clear up a couple of things. This situation has been under the constant vigilance of our vets. Both have known exactly everything that has happened. Kava - I've had three vets over the past 10-15 years give me kava for at least 3 pets. It works but I've never given it more than a da...

Update on Alley and Midnight - Day 71

It's been a while but here I am again to update the saga of Alley and Midnight. (Alley, our boy resident is 11 and Midnight, our new girl addition is 1 and a half.) If you folks remember we took in Midnight around Thanksgiving - and they hated each other. In the beginning Midnight was bullying Alley...

Re: Help - new cat terrorizing resident cat

Midnight does want to play, Alley isn't sure. Vet says to wear out Midnight so she has less exuberance. Am trying to let them figure it out. It's tough being a cat mother.

Yes, certified animal behaviorialist at a vet's office - found her in the yellow pages.

The cats aren't totally separated. They do have several hours a day in each other's company or until the screaming starts. Yes, teeth are being shown, much growling, etc. No blood so far.

Re: Help - new cat terrorizing resident cat

"just big" He is really long and tall - he is proportionate - he is a big cat What exactly has happen when she attacks him? What does he do? he is a big chicken, turns his back, walks away in slow motion, she jumps at him and pulls out hair, he yowls and gets embarrassed. Do...

Is Alley overweight? No, just big. Do you have toys, a seperate area with a cat post or tree for both cats? Yes, each has his/her own. Try involving them together in the same space with a playtime activity. We are trying but if Alley is on the floor she attacks him - so he is constantly ON...

Help - new cat terrorizing resident cat

Well, it's now day 26 with Alley (resident) and Midnight (new addition) actually living in the same space and things are not going well - many ups and downs. Alley is a male 16 pound 11 year old beige cat who is naturally timid and scared of everything. Extreme low self-esteem due to rough times wit...

Day 18 - Alley and Midnight

It's day 18 with our new cat Midnight and our old cat Alley. Things are much better - thanks everybody. At the moment they are four feet apart - Alley is asleep and Midnight is having her "bath." The first two weeks were horrible but things are much better now. Alley is still angry but we ...

Re: Need more help please!

Well, Alley and Midnight have met face to face through a screen. As expected it did not go well. Hissing and growling. But I've had a xanax. I will see how tonight goes.

Re: Need more help please!

I realize that I am just freaking out here. I give you folks credit - this is the hardest thing I've had to do as a cat mother. The bathroom situation has worked itself out - pun intended! And I have sprayed several kleenexes with my boyfriend's cologne and left them around the house (a trick I've l...
