Re: Old kitty going outside the box...
OK, dumb question, how do I find a feline opthamologist? I tried the yellow pages under feline opthamologist and vet opthamologist, and it came up empty. I extended the search to include locations within 100 miles, and still it came up empty...

Re: Old kitty going outside the box...
OK xrays and urinalysis it is. And, new doctor for his eyes. He is a big cat 17.5 pounds, but he's big all over (in other words, he's not fat). I've asked about his weight and whether he should be on a diet, and she said that he was at a good weight for his size, so no need for a diet. He's eating S...

Re: Old kitty going outside the box...
I'll have her take a look at his paw during his treatment this evening. Arthritis is his front legs (actually I guess it would be considered his shoulders). This is a recent diagonsis... he started getting treatment for the arthritis 12 weeks ago. She made a house visit because he was walking like h...

Re: Old kitty going outside the box...
OK, I'll try to respond to the questions that I have answers for, and will get the remaining answers from the vet this evening: 1. Just had blood work done (less than 2 months ago), but I can ask her to redo if it makes sense. 2. I'll ask for a urinalysis. 3. Yes, we treated eyes, but that was over ...

Re: Old kitty going outside the box...
I'll answer in detail tomorrow ... have to run right now (sorry!) ... We're using a mutli-cat clumping litter. I'll have to see if it's scented or not. But very quickly, the "higher wall box" I original mentioned is exactly what Tambery had suggested ... as did our vet. It's a storage bin....

Re: Old kitty going outside the box...
Guido has a long list of ailments, and has been seen regularly the vet for the past year. He's had full bloodwork recently because of ongoing health issues. She did not run a urinalysis (not sure why, I can ask tomorrow). I told her about his urinary problems, and she said that because of his age (1...

Old kitty going outside the box...
Hi All, My cat Guido, who has had a series of ailments the past year or so, is having a problem with urinating outside his box. He tries to get to the box, sometimes makes it ... sometimes not, but even when he does make it, more often than not he misses the box and it ends up on the floor. I brough...

Re: Stray brought into house attacks house cat
You're right it was Baytril. The meds are working wonders. It's really quite amazing on how quickly the skin problems cleared up. On another happy note, the bloodwork came back on the the queen and she's a-ok. All of the cats/kittens had flea treatment, and were treated for worms. Thanks again for t...

Re: Stray brought into house attacks house cat
Unluckily, I don't have the prescriptions with me...and I don't recall the names of the medicine...I think they were daytril and prednisone ... or something like that. One of the prescriptions is supposed to be taken once a day until the medicine is gone. The other is a sliding scale, start with 2 p...

Re: Stray brought into house attacks house cat
The vet does bloodwork, has for years (on all of my cats). On a positive note...apparently, I jumped the gun. The queen did NOT bite Guido in the throat (though it sure looked like she did)...but the queen did bring in fleas, and apparently Guide is very allergic to fleas. The vet gave the old boy a...
