Re: Arthritis

Thanks. It is so difficult to watch Shannon dealing with this after all she's been through. I welcome any suggestions from owners of arthritic kitties.

Arthritis

Hi, An update on Shannon. This arthritis is kicking our butt! Also, we are dealing with CRF. I have a question about fluids. I have been using Sodium Chloride 0.9% and am switching to Lactated Ringers. Does anyone have any information which might be better for Shannon's situation? Does the sodium ir...

Re: Shannon

I took all Shannon's records with me to the hospital so they have everything already. A lot sounds like what happened to Aunt Debbie. Shannon has limped for 15 years due to that bad leg and she now has arthritis in the good knee. So her rear is very unstable. The only disc they said had a problem in...

Re: Shannon

They did do the CBC, urinalysis, calcium, potassium and glucose ( which is always a little high at the vet). She is exhibiting no other symptoms other than the lameness and falling. Xrays showed her previously fractured left leg to be malformed from scar tissue and arthritis. Since she always limped...

Re: Shannon

Thank you. I am most greatful for all the prayers and well wishes. We are gathering all the information we can on how to help Shannon. Looks like arthritis in both rear legs. We're meeting with an orthopedist to see if there is a pain therapy for Shannon. Surgery would be a last resort at her age. S...

Re: Shannon

Just an update on Shannon. It's been a heartwrenching week. I have been crying my heart out thinking I would have to put Shannon down. We have been to four hospitals in three days, Langhorne, PA, Columbus, NJ, U-Penn in Philadelphia and Red Bank, NJ. I got an appointment for Red Bank yesterday and s...

Re: Shannon

Thanks, Traci. I went to U-Penn today and they want an MRI. They think it is nuerological or disc related but can't tell without an MRI under general anesthesia. They mentioned heart irregularities, cancer, or infection along with discs and arthritis. By the time they got done explaining the MRI and...

Shannon

My baby Shannon is not doing well. Her condition has worsened and I am asking for prayers for her. She's 18, a CRF kitty who is diagnosed with arthritis of the spine. We are going to UPenn tomorrow for a consultation. I am so afraid I will have to end this beautiful life. Please pray for her.

I have called Univ. of Penn Veterinary Hospital will take her as an emergency in the morning. Shannon's creatinine was 3.1 and her BUN nearly normal. Glucose was slightl...
