Re: "Holistic" pet foods discussion
Ok well first ingrediant on the so called "holistic" is Chicken meal and the first ingrediant in the Eukenuba is Chicken. Um that would make me want to buy the Eukenuba over the other at first glance. Ok, WHY would you choose to go for the "chicken" vs "chicken meal". ...

"Holistic" pet foods discussion
I visit another forum specifically for German Shepherd Dogs that is frequented by many experienced breeders and owners/handlers of working and show dogs. The vast majority of them recommend "holistic" pet foods, such as Innova, Solid Gold, Timberwolf Organics, etc. I've read the ingredient...

Re: Need recommendations re type of Glucosamine...
i can;t find the article on horses but it says, if I remember right, that the chondroiten compound is to large, malucullar wise, to pas into the blood stream... You are right, I have read that, too. But it is thought that the glucosamine molecules do pass through the intestinal wall to the bloodstr...

Re: Need recommendations re type of Glucosamine...
Well I would also talk to the vet first if I were you. But as for good brands, I personally use Grand Flex for my horse (who I use to compete in eventing) and really like it. You can use it for dogs, too. It's less expensive than a lot of brands but seems to be effective (I have noticed a difference...

Re: hi guys!!!!!!!!
Here's another link---this one is also from the Petsmart website with a list of local animal rescue organizations in Florida. Maybe you can find them in the phone book or do a Google search:

Re: hi guys!!!!!!!!
Like Traci said, try to find a Petsmart in your area (or Petco or other similar pet suppy store). Petsmart works with local rescues to adopt out cats. They most likely will not take the cat themselves (the Petsmart I worked for did not) but they can and will give you phone numbers of local rescue or...

Re: crazy cat?
Max (our 8-month-old male) found a spider crawling on the ceiling above his cat tree one day. He was very agitated that he couldn't reach it--kept trying to figure out how. I picked him up and held him up to the ceiling so he could bat it off. Since then, I have caught him staring at the ceiling abo...

Age to Spay--How is growth affected?
I frequently read another message board (for GSDs only) and came across the topic of spaying. Many on the board advocate waiting to spay until after 1 year of age. They say that the dog needs the hormones in order to develop properly. I know my vet will suggest spaying around 4-6 months old if we do...

Re: Overweight kittens?
Thanks for your reply Cleo. They were both tested for worms when they were kittens--the rescue I adopted them from had that done at their vet. They've been indoor-only kitties so I doubt that it is worms. It's definitely flab and not bloat. However I think I will take them in to the vet to get her o...

Re: My poor cat gags at the smell of anything! Something wr
Another possibility is a tumor in the cat's throat or back of the tongue. My last cat, a big male named Socks, started gagging on occassion and then becoming more frequent. I thought it was a hairball problem. I took him to the vet and it turned out to be cancer on the back of his tongue (he was 11)...
