Re: Is it risky to have my cat with feline AIDs spayed?

Hi Tracy, It's been bugging me for a while and I need to ask you about something. I'm not clear from our conversation if I've done all the testing necessary to make sure my cat does indeed have FIV feline AIDS. This is what I have had done: 1. A couple of days after I adopted the cat from the street...

Re: Is it risky to have my cat with feline AIDs spayed?

Hi Traci, Thank you for your response. On my vet’s suggestion, I did indeed have a PCR test done from an outside lab and it showed the kitten is indeed FIV+. Some questions and comments: 1. What do you mean by “full blood panel” in regards to making sure spaying is OK for her? 2. Thank you for your ...

Is it risky to have my cat with feline AIDs spayed?

Hello, I am about to have my 8-month-old kitten which has definitively been tested positive for feline AIDS spayed, but I want to see what you all think about how risky that could be. My vet doesn't see any problem, and I expect to have the kitten given pain killers and antibiotics. I just want to g...

Is regular milk OK for cats?

Hi everyone, I need a final word on this: I hear different things from different people, and I need to know: Can I give my adult cat milk from the grocery store (not lactose-free or made for cats specifically)? Does it matter if it's whole milk or half and half? If regular milk is bad, can I give my...

Re: Please help with difficult poo-poo pooch

Thanks, Marty, I see what you mean about sticking nose in it and swatting. Unfortunately, everyone in our household has to work, so we can't supervise her during the day, and we don't know anyone who can help us during the day. In fact, when someone is gone, she is crated along with Dilbert (differe...

Please help with difficult poo-poo pooch

Hello all, First of all, I must say a big thank you to everyone; I looked at some of my old posts and I really got a sense of how much I have been helped as I have learned to become a responsible cat owner. Now my girlfriend and I have two dogs, one of which is a real problem. The dog, Imari, a beag...

Swollen salivary gland ... what to do?

Hello everyone, We have a two year old pit bull/Australian cattle dog mix, Dilbert, who is normally healthy. For more than two weeks, though, he has had what has developed into a raquetball-sized lump under the right side of his chin. We have been to the vet several times about it. The vet, who has ...

Please help with older cat with multiple health issues

Hi all, My girlfriend has had an 11 year-old female cat named Bitsy, that she has had for 9 years with several heatlh issues. I have read through many posts but I still feel I need some help. First of all, Bitsy has mostly loose, brown-colored stools about three times a day and NEVER uses the litter...

Male cats are from Mars, Female cats are from Venus?

Hi all, Here's some background data: I have a year-old female cat who has had virtually no experience with other cats and I've had her since she was two months old. The only time she's encountered other cats is when I've taken her outside and then she chased two cats out of the yard. I very rarely l...
