She said it was chronic. I did get a second opinion, and they agreed that it would be a matter of weeks, even with treatment, and that although treatment might prolong his life a bit, he would not have a good quality of life. He is absolutely sick and miserable, and it doesn't seem right to make him...

I fostered four little black kittens like that once. All solid black. I got four little collars in different colors to tell them apart.

I've heard the suggestion to use *beep* wax (the stuff surfers put on their boards), which keeps the clumps from sticking to the box. Never actually tried it, and I don't know if there's anything in the wax that might be harmful to the cats. But I thought I'd throw it out there in case anybody else ...
