is my cat naturally small?

Friends have commented that my mother cat is tiny and have asked whether she might have worms. She is tiny and thin but eats healthy and she doesn't go outside so i don't see how it could be worms. She hasn't been eating prey as she shows no interest in hunting. Her litter she came from has some sma...

Re: dog and stitches

thanks for the suggestion davet, the stitches were in his indide back leg below the "knee" so it was an easy spot to get at, they are healed now and i solved the problem by getting the biggest "cone" collar, next size up was for horses!

Re: dog and stitches

Hi got a bigger collar today, it is the next size up and if i went to the biggest it would have been the one used for horses. Wound is healing nicely and we allow him to go without the collar as long as he is laying beside us on the couch. The vet did wrap his wound originally with gauze and a banda...

hi traci, as far as i can tell there is no infection, the wound looks like there is no pus or anything and isn't swollen, she recommended that it be left open to speed the healing but leaving it open means that he can get at it. He is on antibiotics in the pill form. I will ask about the splint tomo...

Re: dog and stitches

hi Tambrey, i'll have to check on the bitter apple to see if it is found in local pet stores, we have a pets unlimited handy so if they don't carry it i don't know who would, does it irritate the surrounding skin, he was shaved in that area? i don't think she did a culture or if she did it wasn't ma...

Re: has anyone heard of this breed?

thanks traci, our dog is almost 6 years old so isn't too rambunctious, he is very loyal and friendly, if company comes he will follow them around the house and in the evenings when my husband and i are sitting on the couch he is right between us with his head in one of our laps. the only discipline ...

Re: has anyone heard of this breed?

Thanks Traci, I compared the picture you posted with the picture of the swedish shepherd in the book I have, they do look similiar except for the description of the weight which is put at a bit lower on the swedish shepherd. In the book they warn not to confuse the swedish shepherd with the Welsh Co...

has anyone heard of this breed?

we have a blacklab/ swedish shepherd cross, while we know lots on the lab, we can find little info on the swedish shepherd. Has anyone had any experience with this breed? I think it is rather rare but does exist as one book has acknowledged it.

Re: can my female never go into heat

Thanks for the replies :) There are no local vet schools in my province, PEI being the closest, our SPCA recommends local vets because they don't spay or neuter themselves, i will keep trying to save and will probably get the mother cat done first as she is very vocal! There is a local vet w...
