Re: Canned cat food for urinary tract health
There are several different kinds of canned cat food that address the low pH for urinary health. At first we did science diet, but it is pricey. I can't remember the brand we use now, but Max does fine with it. He had a severe urinary blockage last July, and *hopefully* will continue to do so. You c...

Sassy, how is your cat?
Hi Sassy -
I have not posted here in a while, but lurk here and there. I was reading your post about your cat - how is he/she doing? Please give us an update if you can

Cat paw movement question
Stupid question, but what does it mean when a cat comes on your lap and pushes his paws into you like he is kneeding dough? Max will come and lay on my lap, but before he does, he steps up and down on me. He is usually purring while he does it, so it must be some sort of a sign of affeciton.

Re: Need advice on anxiety issues
am not in favor of anti-anxiety drugs for cats, they are not the solution, and many of them cause significant side effects, and end up only masking the problem I don't think they would be used long-term, but just like Ash said, to break that obsession with his box. My vet, who is very seasoned and ...

Re: Need advice on anxiety issues
Thanks for the replies. Max seemed more himself last night - cuddled up with me on the couch, laying in his spots, etc. However, when I went downstairs (by his box), he did not follow me. He still seems all wigged out about the box. Like I said, he was FINE until I changed the litter (maybe too much...

Need advice on anxiety issues
Hi everyone, I have a question about cat anxiety. Max - who you may remember as the cat who had a urinary blockage - has been doing well since his illness in August. He has been using the box just fine, but has a setback every single time I clean the litter. This sounds weird, but if I leave it a li...

Re: Kitty w/Blocked Bladder
My 3 yr old male had the same problem over the summer. He is probably straining because it still hurts - was your cat there overnight? If he had a catheter in, those are painful. I would imagine that the pain is from the irritation from the procedures to remove the blockage. You should, however, get...

Pooping outside the box - Max again
Hi everyone, We had really been doing well up to this point with Max. He has been gaining more freedom, and has been urinating in the box all of the time. However, now it seems we have the opposite problem. He has been pooping in odd places. The vet has said that it is behavioral - that some sort of...

Re: At my wits end with training Max
Max seems to be doing great - he has been using the box exclusively for about a week now, with no accidents. We have been keeping him in his room while we are out, but want to re-introduce him to some freedom. Would it be a good idea to let him out at night? If he has been using the box for this lon...
