Re: Glad that this board is here

Tina B and crew, thank you so much. People so often don't understand how attached to a pet you can become. To me Phoebe was a person and more than a person--a person with special needs, one who wasn't able to let me know if she was hurting. Sometimes she did let me know but in her own way. The vet I...

Re: Glad that this board is here

Thank you, Traci and Laurie and Tisha. What a nice thought about the two Phoebes playing together! In the last couple of weeks of her life, my Phoebe was playing in ways I hadn't seen her do for a long time. It was almost as if she felt the end coming and wanted to get in a few last happy moments. H...

Re: Glad that this board is here

I appreciate the detailed reply. Unfortunately little Phoebe died on August 5. She had a seizure a couple of days before and went downhill after that, with her hind legs failing completely, and then she was gone. I miss her. As for the calcium, she'd had a complete lab workup in May, and because of ...

Re: Glad that this board is here

Excellent advice as always--I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks those test results just might have been misinterpreted.

Glad that this board is here

Some years ago I registered here as Phoebe's human because I felt that an online resource would be very valuable for me and my cat Phoebe. I have limited mobility, and going to a vet just isn't easy. Time and again this board has been helpful to me, and I'm sorry to see that there isn't as much acti...

Re: Seizure-like episodes just after a hairball

Thanks for the prompt reply! In June she had a workup that was called "Senior Feline w/spec fpl & cardio" with "feline cardiopet add-on srfe." I'm looking at the invoice and can't recall what those notations stand for exactly except that it was referred to as a cardio workup....

Re: Seizure-like episodes just after a hairball

An update here because I'm not sure what to do. Phoebe had another seizure today but with no hairball. It lasted about 45 seconds. Right afterwards she gave a few very strange howls, but she did that before when she had seizures. Then she hid under the bed, and I could see she was under there with h...

Thanks, Traci!

The vet was there too and I told him about it.

I think what he said was that if it happened again, to let them know, but I'm not sure I remembered right.

I'll give them a call. She did have a lot of bloodwork done in late December but it looks as if some more may need to be done now.

Seizure-like episodes just after a hairball

Some months back my cat Phoebe (age 12) went into something like a seizure just after having a hairball. She fell off her windowseat, a drop of a couple of feet, and lay very still on the floor. There were a few writhing movements. The whole thing lasted less than half a minute, I'd say. Then she se...

Re: Hyperthyroidism?

Thanks for asking--Phoebe seems much better though there is still dark stuff in the ear they treated. They did tell me there was still some scab material inside that would have to work its way out. She's always much happier after I've cleaned the debris out of her ear. I've gradually changed her fro...
