chewing?

okay . . . my nearly one year old cat has some problems, I admit that, and I noticed she chewed on things occasionally, but I thought she was teething. I just noticed on the stair rail . . upper banister area is a wide ledge where she lays . . the corner . . is gnawed OFF! like a dog would do! and ....

Re: runny nose kitty

Just wanted to say, my vet called ME just now . . . wow . .I love this vet! Called to check on both my kitties as a followup call. I mentioned the runny, stuffy nose and she said it just takes time, use all the antibiotics and if it gets worse after that/does not improve, bring Sam back in.

runny nose kitty

Our new 6 mo old kitten Sam got checked out by the vet Monday and has a cold in his eye and a runny nose. He's on eye antibiotic ointment and amoxicillin orally and seems to have perked up, but I can hear him breathing (snorting and snuffling) from across the room and he blows bubbles out his nose. ...

Re: new cat intro

Sam has an infected eye and a cold and was prescribed an eye ointment/antibiotic and an oral antibiotic to prevent a secondary infection I assume. He wasn't running a fever so that's good!

Re: tail biting

Well, it looks like we may have an answer . . . either that or its another type of neurological problem. I ended up just taking both cats in with me to the vet this afternoon. Scuttle has had several behavior "issues" since we found her as an abandoned kitten with her eyes barely opened an...

Re: tail biting

:D
Yes, I just looked up mites and other parasites, but I was just playing. I am never serious and hope no one was offended. Davet's post made me laugh. At any rate, the kitty's skin looks fine and she's been like this for months. . . . :-n I'll just have to wait for the vet.

Re: tail biting

Niiiiiice . . . . Scuttle sleeps with me . . . Mites are not cat specific for hosts I wouldn't think . . . . Now I itch all over . .thank you . . :(

I have to take my other cat, Sam, to the vet this afternoon . .guess I'll ask while I am there . . .

tail biting

I posted this in the quirks thread but it would make me feel sooooo much better if someone told me this was normal cat behavior and not that there was a problem. I read somewhere that after a cat is spayed, the cat could have tail paresthesia . . .could this be what is going on? Painful tail or numb...

Re: Talk about Kitty's quirks here

My 11 month old calico Scuttle does more than chase her tail. She will spend most of the morning and late evening looking over her shoulder at it and growling, hissing and literally attacking herself. Sometimes she bites herself on the hind foot so hard that she howls in pain . . .what is up with th...
